Skip the Typing: Go from Picture to Expense Report

Once in awhile we get an email or call from someone who wants to see ProOnGo in action, but doesn’t have one of our supported phones (yet).  By the way, we’ll have a lot to announce in the way of new phones that will be supported in the coming months.  In the meantime, though, if you are thinking of upgrading your phone and trying ProOnGo, here is a web video of how it works:

Awesome application but it seems limited to personal use.

    Asad,

We have a mix of users — some who use it to keep track of personal expenses, and some that use it for their T&E expenses for business. At this point, I’d say our users are about evenly divided between those two groups.

The great thing for those that are using it for business expenses is that we really allow you to customize the Excel 2007 and PDF output, so that the categories/types of expenses, and the format of the report, are a close match with what you are used to using in your company. Also, you’ll see news from us soon about Quickbooks integration. Stay tuned for that.

Lastly, for business users that are looking for a way to link directly in to their corporate expense system, we offer custom integration. Just drop us a line at support@proongo.com and we’ll talk through your needs and find a way to help!

Do you have any web videos showing how to use the service over wi-fi instead of using a cellular data plan (I don’t have a data plan)?

I’ve got my phone connected to Wi-Fi at least a couple times every day, so if I can take my receipt pictures throughout the day but then just “sync” them when I have a Wi-Fi connection, that would be great.

    Is it possible?

    Martin,

We don’t yet have a web video showing how to use ProOnGo over Wi-Fi (ignoring the cellular data connection), but we do have step-by-step instructions on how to do this. In fact, it would probably be a good idea for you to just delete your cellular data connection altogether, so that *no* application (including ProOnGo) finds and uses it.

Here is how to do this:

You’ll also find this (and other step-by-step tutorials) when you log in to your account through http://www.ProOnGo.com.

    Martin,

Also — yes, it is possible to take your receipt pictures throughout the day (or throughout the week for that matter), and then “sync” them all at once when you finally end up somewhere that has a Wi-Fi connection. Just take your receipt pictures as normal, through ProOnGo, say “yes” when asked if you want to send them to the ProOnGo service, and ignore any connection warnings that you get (you can just click “no” if you get a message saying “keep trying to open a connection?”).

Whenever you’ve got a connection again, just open up ProOnGo, and it’ll detect that you have a connection and will start syncing up all of your expense images automatically.

We do that all the time ourselves. For example, if I’m on a flight back from a business trip, I’ll load up all of my receipt pictures into ProOnGo Expense (with my phone in airplane mode of course), and then when I land and turn on my phone again, all of my receipts sync up.

Tell you what — its a great feeling to have my expense report “done for me” while I walk from the gate to towards the baggage carousel.
